Project Plan

I have just produced a step-by-step plan to guide myself through the production of my single camera drama. I am aware that after planning to produce a single camera drama along with a DVD and promotional poster campaign that I have taken a lot on board. However with a good plan and smart scheduling I believe it is an achievable task. Here I will demonstrate the various steps I will take to assure that my project will be as successful as possible.
1. Research the topic of my drama (thriller). Look at camera techniques and the use of music in film as well as how I can use these in my film.
2. Develop the characters and settings I will use, as well as writing brief descriptions of each of them.
3. STORYBOARDING;
I will produce a detailed plan of how my production will run, featuring camera angles, framing, lighting and how sound will be used with each scene. This will act as a guide in the filming stages of my production.
4. After assuring the acting services of my friends for my specific dates, as well as the filming equipment I will carry out the filming process at the specified locations.
5. Once filming is complete, I will open the footage in the editing suite and begin post-production. In a new Final Cut Pro file I will open my footage and cut all that I won't be using in my finished piece.
6. My footage should now just need to be put in the right order, and once it is I will apply music to heighten the tension of the scene.
7. Now that the film is saved, I can start transporting it to DVD. By this stage I have already produced a DVD menu design for my film and now I will open a new file in DVD Studio Pro. Using the same techniques to create my 'Barlife' DVD, I will develop an interactive DVD in which to play my film.
8. I will also work on a promotional poster. In photoshop, I will use techniques I have picked up over the past year and a half to create a poster that perfectly represents the tone of my film. I will also take inspiration from current and classic film posters so I have an indication as how to best use imagery and text to convey messages.

9. Throughout the entire production of my film, I will record my progress with 'Blogger'. I will also take printscreens with which I will discuss the various steps I have taken and the techniques I have used.
10. Once I have completed these stages, I will print off my finished poster and burn my film to DVD if they are not already. My folderwork will be placed in the correct order and handed in with my finished project.

There are a lot of legal issues that must be considered when developing a single-camera drama;

Ÿ Race Discrimination- I will pay close attention to any racial stereotyping or suggestion that could be implied in my film.

Ÿ Copyright and Data Protection- In filming and editing it is critically important to check legal boundaries if you are using sourced material. Songs and video clips are copyrighted by production companies to protect their assets and to keep from losing money. I intend to use only original storylines, actors and music in my production.

Ÿ Ethics- In my production I will also pay close attention to any ethical codes which may be breached. Throughout my narrative I will be careful of how events will be perceived by the audience.
